Correlation analysis of the amino acid substitutions in protein sequences.

[Tutorial start page]

This tutorial illustrates implementation of the CRASP package analysis.
Two types of problems related to co-adaptive amino acid substitutions could be analysed by using this package.
  • First, it is possible to detect and analyse pairwise dependencies of amino acid substitutions at protein positions. This task could be solved using Analysis of pairwise positional correlations .
  • Second, it is possible to estimate the contribution of such co-adaptive substitutions to the evolutionary constancy (variability) of the integral protein physico-chemcal characteristics such as net charge of protein residues, hydrophobic core volume, etc. This task could be solved using  Analysis of protein integral physico-chemical characteristics .
